Nigeria at 59: "In the dark room"

Nigeria at 59: "In the dark room"

The Nigerian Flag; Nigeria at 59

Nigeria, oh Nigeria
Do you know that your children are now over 200 million
In number
Do you know that we are still trying to grow up
And to input all that you taught us
Do you even know that we are yet to love as you loved

Nigeria!
We go every where looking for shelter
Forgetting that you built the best shelter for us
We are even ashamed of our identity
Forgetting your are the pride of Africa
And the envy of the world
Yes! You created such a great presence for yourself
But we forgot

In times of our heroes past
They were opportunities for the young and old
Yes! We multiplied
But we forgot to multiply our strategies

Oh! Nigeria
You taught us well
But we failed every test
Every exam
The fees are counting
The odds are not clear
We will need a bail out

Nigeria!
In that dark room
I see your tears
Feel everywhere as flood
You are disappointed
But I and my friends will figure it out
In no time.
