Sixty Six

Sixty Six

O my Nigeria where has thy smile gone
The last time some smiled was in their mother's belly
Nigeria happened to many immediately they arrived.
They had faith
They believed that some day Nigeria will be great
O my Nigeria where has thy smile gone

The market woman, the driver, the police man, the shoe maker have all lost their smile
They search, they search for it like a lost destiny
Nwoke na ife

My Nigeria has become a laughing stock.
One that has lost her pride to greed
Nwannem we had hope
That one day the cry for a better nation will be a thing of the past
Yet we are still in the past

Sixty Six years of believing
Sixty Six years of birthing greatness
Yet greatness is yet to serve
Where did we go wrong?
