Ojodu Adewale road (Ogun State). This is what it looks like every morning. |
Ojodu adewale, a town in Ogun state has become a daily night mare for many who reside in Agbole, Akute etc. This happens to be the only route to Lagos for those that live there. Though the road had always been congested with a heavy load of traffic but it was not this bad. It was so because the road was just too small for the many residents that had cars in the area. Now it is worse because the road is now very narrow, such that there is only one road for those going to Lagos and those coming back from Lagos. Cars manoeuvre each other to locate a safe bend to get to the other side of the road, therefore making a 5 minute journey to the other side to take more than 30 minutes.
The bad news is that there is a bridge that have been left redundant for more than five years; since the beginning of Ibikunle Amosun tenure and yet to be completed after 8 years in power. The people say that the last time something was done on the bridge was when the present governor needed to be on the sit of power. So, he promised to repair it and put it in other and now it is a tenure gone but nothing is done.
It is actually surprising to know that the happiness of the people lies on the construction of the road. I took a trip to the bridge to see for myself but was disappointed in what I saw. The bridge was good enough for commuters to use but the engineers purposely left three opening in the middle of the bridge and put a sign on it no road. I term this wickedness of the government and politicians in general.
I refuse to believe that the government doesn't have money to construct a small bridge as this one, but prefers to make residents suffer. Commuters now use under the bridge as a way out. This opening is such that one can use a little plank to close and pass through it. That is to say that the bridge is good to go but for that hitch.
This only tells us one thing, some politicians are not worth your vote. These people have suffered for 8 years . This means that various government came into power but didn't listen to the cry of the people.
Roads are very important in a community, and this Alagbole/ Akute road is very important to the growth of its residents. Many complained inside the bus I entered, that because of this road they get to the office later than they should. Only this week, in the bid to win the hearts of the people for the coming election, 'they' came with trucks and workers to blind fold the people. They workers have been rigmaroling. such a pity!
I therefore call out to the Ogun State government, to do something about this immediately and stop the 'brain wash game' . And the people of Ogun state, come 2019, be wise and refuse the government that has given you pain one way or the other.
